how can the definition of needs be differentiate from wants.

  Needs and wants are defined by different meanings. Needs mean the things are necessary for us. We have to get them to survive or to reach our purposes. Some people who are contented with a simple and economical life but they are still happy; Wants are the things they don’t have and they want to get for satisfying themselves and take something for granted. They pursue the luxurious life and ‘waste a lot of things’ in many perspectives. I think the needs come from the requirement of survival and the wants come from a sense of vanity and temptation.

Needs are the basic requirement of the human being for surviving. Basically consist of the materialistic needs and the spiritual ones. About the materialistic needs, such as air, food, water, nutrition, protein, the things we need to use in daily life. In general, materialistic needs are depend on different people because we all have different standards to distinguish the needs. The spiritual needs are technically consist of the love between families, the love between couples or between friends, the care come different walks of life, the donations from the society and many people believe one of the religions as their believes. They are called spiritual pillars which can make us feel being concerned. For example, lots of people live in a depressed environment with hopelessness. There are statistics about the needs in the poor areas. Over 1.1 billion people in the world live on less than one U.S. dollar per day.500 million people are hungry and another 500 million are so poor that they get too little food to be fully productive. Every day 25,000 people, many of them children, die from the results of dirty drinking water. They need the hope and spiritual pillars. So we should be completely contented with life we have given by our parents. In my opinion, needs are the things are easy to get in our life, but we should save the needs for people who are really need it.

  Wants are the things we have out of our control and most of them are come from the sense of vanity and temptation. They give us the maximum satisfaction. It can also defined as the desire and pursue. For example, my friend is using an iphone 3. But the iphone 4 is better than iphone 3 and then she bought the latest one. That’s why apple company is so attracted by the young people. And why the brands are so popular such as LV, GUCCI, PRADA, CHANNEL….They all catch the desire of the people want the luxurious life and it can show the position in the life. On the contrary, I cannot say wants are wrong because some people have enough money to satisfy themselves buying many things we seems like crazy. They enjoy the life with alcohol, fabulous cars, jewelry, great cuisine and do whatever they want. I think the most important for us define the wants and needs is to control ourselves depends on the self-ability. Don’t let the wants never stop.

  In conclusion, actually we all want a lot of things instead of keeping the basic needs in our life. But the most important thing is we should control our balance of the needs and wants. Actually it is not hard to make it, we should think more, take more into account. And I think the balance will be well controlled. Needs and wants are all around us. I think we can all be away from the vanity and the temptations.
